Harga BBM Kian Mencekik, Sopir Ngamuk Massal—Tetangga RI Lumpuh Total

Lonjakan harga BBM continues to Resident Indonesia, particularly on sectors highly dependent on fuel, such as public transport, logistics, and small workshops. Rising at the pump, is not just a matter of "mahal sedikit," but a structural burden that directly squeezes the thin margins of daily drivers. A series of actions and complaints from drivers in various regions underscores the level of stress that fuel prices have caused for the community.

For years, the government still holds the issue of fuel prices through the scheme of compensation or subsidi for Pertalite and LPG 3 kg, as well as the formula harga BBMatching Victor. However, when the subsidy ratio shrinks, the adjustment to the selling price of fuel types outside the subsidy, such as Pertamax and Diesel, tends to move. Even so, the basic needs of drivers—which are mostly Pertalite—still feel the squeeze, especially when the cost of operational, maintenance, and tires, which are always running, continues to rise simultaneously.

Adjustment Not in Line with Income

According to a number of reports from the field, the most common complaint from drivers is simple: fuel costs go up faster than the increase in passenger fares or shipping rates. On long routes, a driver with a second vehicle or a small truck with a payload of one ton does not have a large enough surplus to absorb an increase of hundreds or thousands of rupiah per liter. The impact of such adjustments is easily passed on to customers, but customers are themselves price-sensitive. The result is a circular squeeze: fuel goes up, fares go up, and people reduce travel or switch to cheaper but less efficient transport modes.

Margins Thin, Complaints Louder

Some drivers conveyed that they do not oppose fuel price adjustments per se, but rather the way the adjustment is communicated and the timing of its implementation, which often feels sudden. When the price changes in the middle of the month, while income and cargo availability are uncertain, the psychological burden is even greater. A surge of complaints and discussions from driver groups in several areas shows that frustration is accumulating and starting to find a collective voice.

On the passenger side, the impact is more visible. Public transport fares are often not readjusting, meaning drivers absorb the entire cost difference. As a result, some routes are reduced in frequency, some vehicles park on the roadside waiting for passengers, and a number of drivers choose to switch to other work, such as ojol or freelance delivery, which offers higher per-order fares—although with its own uncertainties.

Logistics and Goods Distribution

Higher fuel prices are not only about transportation people. The cost of distributing food and goods to the regions also increases, and eventually is passed on in the form of higher prices in markets. From vegetables and fruit to bottled water and bottled oil, items that require long-distance transport will inevitably be affected. Small traders, who are very sensitive to price movements, are forced to either raise prices with minimal margins or absorb losses and reduce stock.

In the manufacturing sector, fuel is a major component of production costs, ranging from generators to distribution fleets. Industry players argue that fuel and basic energy costs are among the most difficult to predict, so any change immediately affects production plans and selling prices. The government, on the other hand, continues to emphasize that energy subsidies must be controlled without reducing the supply of energy for the community.

Government and Business Responses

Regarding this matter, fuel producers have stated that the selling price of fuel at the pump follows a pricing mechanism that is adjusted in stages and has been communicated in advance. The company also ensures that supply remains sufficient and that there is no shortage in distribution. Meanwhile, the government is attempting to maintain the price of subsidized products, while opening the possibility of reviewing the subsidy scheme so that the benefits are more targeted to those who need them.

Observers suggest that the discussion should not only be about whether prices rise or fall, but also about how to protect groups most vulnerable to fuel price adjustments. One option is to continue the compensation scheme in a more targeted manner, expand assistance to sectors that are heavily affected by fuel costs, and accelerate the availability of public transport that is more fuel-efficient. Another thing that needs attention is data transparency regarding oil price movements and the components of the formula price, so that the public can understand why adjustments occur.

Solusi yang Dinantikan Menunggu

For drivers, the immediate solution remains simple: a price that can still be competed for, and a fare that adjusts in a timely manner. Without that balance, every fuel price adjustment will be felt as a reduction in income, and collective complaints will continue to grow. The current situation shows that the fuel issue is no longer a purely economic technical matter, but a social question that is directly related to the daily survival of the people.
